Ayutthaya is an ancient Thai city just outside of Bangkok. Founded in 1350, Ayutthaya was the second capital of Thailand (then referred to as Siam), the first being Sukhothai. In its heyday, due to its prime, central location between the surrounding countries, Ayutthaya was arguably the trade capital of the world.
