Description: Lying just west of Thailand, Laos, and China is the untouched gem of Southeast Asia, Myanmar.  Come join Adventure Asia to explore the hidden wonders of this historically and culturally rich country.  On this special tour, guests will cycle through famous cities like Mandalay and Bagan, even cycling into the outskirts of the urban areas to get a feel for the many different lifestyles, traditions, and customs in all parts of Myanmar.  Our tour will also take guests on a cruise along the Irrawaddy River, to the top of Mount Popa, and to the beautiful and culturally rich Inle Lake.  Come join us on this exciting adventure through the unique country of Myanmar.

Day 1: Sanur
Activities: Arrive in Yangon – Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda – Shwedagon Pagoda

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Itinerary: On the first day, guests will arrive in Yangon where they will be met by their guide and brought to their hotel for check-in.  Guests will convene for lunch and, afterwards, we will take a tour through the city of Yangon to visit the most famous and most important monuments located within the city-limits.  The tour will take us to the Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda as well as the world-famous Shwedagon Pagoda, stopping for a tea at a traditional Burmese tea-house in between.  In the evening, we will watch the gorgeous sunset from the Shwedagon Pagoda before heading back to the city for a yummy dinner.

Overnight stay in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon | Mandalay
Activities: Travel to Mandalay – Bike fitting – City tour by car – Mandalay Hill

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Itinerary: After breakfast on the second morning, guests will travel by plane to Mandalay.  After checking into the hotel, guests will go to get fitted for their bikes.  After eating lunch at a local restaurant, guests will embark on a tour of the city by car.  The car will take us to a gold-leaf workshop and to Mahamuni Pagoda before taking us to the base of Mandalay Hill.  After climbing the hill, we will watch a beautiful sunset over the city before heading back down for dinner.

Day 3: Mandalay | Sagaing | Mingun | Mandalay
Activities: Visit ancient capital Amarapura and U Bein Bridge – Cycle to Mingun – Tour of sites in Mingun – Irrawaddy River cruise back to Mandalay

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Itinerary: On the third day, guests will begin the cycling adventure!  Riding into the outskirts of Mandalay, the tour will take us to the 18th century capital of Myanmar: Amarapura.  Here guests will have a chance to see the famous teak U Bein Bridge and the iconic surrounding views.  Afterwards, we will cross the Irrawaddy River to Sagaing and on to Mingun where guests will visit the famous Mingun Pahtodawqyi, the amazing Hsinbyume Pagoda, and the Mingun Bell.  We will enjoy a boxed lunch at a local monastery before returning to Mandalay by boat and observing life along the Irrawaddy River as we go.

Day 4: Mandalay | Meiktila
Activities: Cycle through rural area to Pyin Si Junction – Travel by car to Meiktila

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Itinerary: After breakfast on the fourth day, guests will cycle to Pyin Si Junction.  Along the way, our tour will pass through local villages and guests will catch a glimpse into rural village life in Myanmar.  We will enjoy a boxed lunch along the way.  From Pyin Si Junction, guests will continue to Meiktila by car.  Upon arrival, we will check into the hotel and enjoy a nice Burmese dinner.

Day 5: Meiktila | Mount Popa
Activities: Cycle to Mount Popa

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Itinerary: This morning guests will begin the beautiful ride to Mount Popa.  Make sure to keep your camera handy as this leg of the trip proves to be one of the most beautiful and scenic. The terrain can be a bit hilly, but the group will be followed by a van that will be available for any guests that would prefer to enjoy the view from the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle.  We will eat lunch at a local restaurant along the way.  Guests will transfer to car for the last leg of the journey to the top of Mount Popa where they will have the rest of the evening to relax at the resort and enjoy the glorious views.

Day 6: Mount Popa | Bagan
Activities: Popa Taung Kalat – Cycle to Bagan – Visit local villages – Horse cart ride and sunset

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Itinerary: Prepare yourselves for the wonders of the city of Bagan! Today we will begin our journey to this famous archaeological site. After breakfast, guests will bike down the mountain where they will climb 900 stair to the top of Popa Taung Kalat.  Along the way guests will see many different shrines built to honor the nearby spirits.  From the top, guests will enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding areas.  From here, we will continue on our journey to Bagan, travelling through several rural villages along the way and learning even more about the culture, traditions, and lifestyles of the people that live there.  Upon arrival in Bagan,  guests will check into their hotels before taking a horse cart ride to an elevated temple to watch the sunset before traveling back down for dinner.
