Description: Enjoy the more remote areas of Laos on this 10 day tour that will take guests through the gorgeous valleys of Northern Laos, surrounded by mountains covered in dense jungle. Cruise along the rivers, trek through the jungle, and spend quality time with the local hill tribes as you adventure through the small villages that are home to the many different ethnic groups in Laos.

Day 1: Thai Border | Houay Xai | Vieng Phouka
Meals: None
Itinerary: After crossing the border from Chiang Ria into Laos, guests will be met at the Lao immigration office to complete the visa process. Guests will then be taken to Vieng Phouka, stopping at a Lanten village along the way where they will have the opportunity to learn about an ancient Chinese process for natural dying. Upon arrival in Vieng Phouka, guests will settle into their hotel for the evening and enjoy some time mingling with the locals.

Day 2: Vieng Phouka | Luang Namtha
Activities: Travel to Luang Namtha
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: Today guests will travel to Luang Namtha through the mountains. Don’t forget your camera! The stunning views that you will see along this journey are not ones you will want to forget any time soon. Upon reaching Luang Namtha, guests will visit the bustling night market and enjoy some delicious street food before heading to bed.

Day 3: Nam Ha National Protected Area
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Itinerary: Today, the tour will embark on a two-day trek through the forests, fields, rivers, and mountains that surround the small town of Luang Namtha. The trek can be adapted to fit guests’ desires in terms of length, difficulty, and desired destinations.

Day 4: Nam Ha National Protected Area
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: Continuing our trek through this beautiful area of Laos, your trekking guide will lead you into remote parts of this nationally protected area to experience stunning vistas and various species of wildlife that live in the region.

Day 5: Nam Ha National Protected Area
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: Continuing our trek through the beautiful area surrounding Luang Namtha and arriving back in the city before nightfall where guests will settle into a clean and comfortable room, no doubt exhausted after two days of hiking!

Day 6: Luang Namtha | Muang Khoua
Meals: Breakfast
Itinerary: Wake up early this morning to wander through the markets before eating a delicious breakfast and setting out in a private minivan for Muang Khua, enjoying the beautiful landscape along the way. Take note of the local villages as well, these are home to some of the many hill tribes that make Laos so ethnically diverse.

Day 7: Muang Khoua | Muang Ngoy
Meals: Breakfast
Itinerary: This morning guests will cruise along the gorgeous Nam Ou River to Muang Ngoy. Passing through the mountainous jungle, this cruise offers some wonderful views for our travelers. Along the way, the tour will make a few stops in the local villages that line the river and guests will be able to catch a glimpse into the daily life of these people. The trip will end in Muang Ngoy, a quiet town where guests will relax for the evening.

Day 8: Muang Ngoy | Nong Khiaw
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: Guests will enjoy another boat ride this morning on the way to Ban Hat Sao where they will set out for a jungle trek. Along the trekking route, the tour will pass through rice fields, forests, and agricultural land, before stopping at a beautiful waterfall where they will have some time to relax and enjoy the cool, cascading water. From here, guests will continue on a small walking trail along the Nam Ou River to the town of Nong Khiaw.

Day 9: Nong Khiaw
Meals: Breakfast
Itinerary: Today guests will have time to explore Nong Khiaw and the gorgeous surrounding areas. Gaze up at the beautiful limestone mountains, take a boat ride, or explore the nearby villages and caves. There is plenty to do in the area and guests will be amazed by the breathtaking natural beauty!

Day 10: Nong Khiaw
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: Guests will take yet another boat ride up the Nam Ou River this morning to explore the “100 waterfalls”. This trek is named for the many waterfalls that guests will see along the way as they hike through the jungle. The tour will also visit a village where guests can learn about daily life along the Nam Ou, taking the boat back to Nong Khiaw in the evening.

Day 11: Nong Khiaw | Luang Prabang
Meals: Breakfast
Itinerary: As our wonderful tour draws to a close, guests will travel back along the Nam Ou River to Luang Prabang. Along the way, there will be one last stop in the village of Ban Na Nyang where guests will learn about traditional cotton weaving in Lao. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, guests will say their goodbyes and be dropped off at the airport or at their hotel. Our tour may be over, but the memories will last a lifetime!
