Description: Starting in the spiritual capital of Laos, Luang Prabang, this short, two day tour will take guests up the Mekong River to the beautifully remote Kamu Lodge. Guests will have the opportunity to visit local hill tribe villages and learn something about their day to day life, traditions, and customs. This tour provides a truly unique and authentic glimpse into the life of the different people that live in Laos.

Day 1: Luang Prabang

Activities: Arrival in Luang Prabang

Meals: None

Itinerary: Welcome to the beautiful city of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival in the spiritual capital of Laos, couples will be met by their tour guide and transferred to their hotel. In the evening, there will be a brief orientation, followed by a hike to the top of the epic Mount Phousi (328 steps!) to watch the sunset over the city, offering incredible views — a perfect place to get some good pictures as newlyweds! Couples will have the rest of the evening free to wander through the night market and enjoy a yummy Laotian dinner at one of the local eateries.

Day 2: Luang Prabang

Activities: E-bike city tour of Luang Prabang – visit famous temples – Traditional Art & Ethnology Center – L’Hibiscus Spa, romantic dinner

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Itinerary: This morning, guests will be taken by tuk tuk to the electric powered bike station where they will learn how to use the vehicles. Guests will then be free to explore the city on an environmentally-friendly motorbike! The tour will start at the former Royal Palace, which has since been turned into the National Museum. The tour will then continue to the famous temples of Wat Mai and Wat Sensoukarahm. The last of the temples visited today will be the famous Wat Xieng Thong, the most sacred and revered temple in Laos. In the afternoon, the tour will bring guests to the Traditional Art & Ethnology Center where guests will learn about the diversity of Laos’ many unique ethnic minorities. Our newlyweds will then enjoy a romantic afternoon at L’Hibiscus Spa where they will receive an herbal foot massage and a 90 minute aromatherapy massage, followed by a beautiful sunset on the spa’s balcony. The sunset will be followed by a candlelit dinner at Luang Prabang’s finest French restaurant.

Day 3: Luang Prabang | Pak Ou | Ban Xang Hay

Activities: Boat Ride on the Mekong – Pak Ou caves – Ban Xang Hay – Cooking class

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Itinerary: After breakfast this morning, guests will be transferred to the Mekong River for a boat ride. Along the way, couples will discover life along the river and the many ways that the locals use the river in their daily life. The boat ride will last approximately two hours, guests will disembark to see the famous limestone caves, called the Pak Ou caves: full of gold-lacquered statues of the Buddha. On the way back to Luang Prabang, couples will stop in Ban Xang Hay to try some delicious, traditional rice-wine. Couples will have the next few hours free to eat lunch and explore before venturing out to some of the best Laotian restaurants where chefs will teach you about the wonderful Laotian cuisine and you will help to cook dinner!

Day 4: Luang Prabang | Kuang Si Waterfalls

Activities: Monks collecting alms – Visit to local village – Kuang Si Waterfalls – Bear Sanctuary – Butterfly Park – The Baci

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Itinerary: This morning, couples will be offered a special dawn visit to watch the monks collecting the alms from residents of the city — a truly beautiful and serene experience. Afterwards, guests will travel by tuk tuk back to the hotel where they will have breakfast, before traveling through the beautiful surrounding countryside to the Kuang Si Waterfalls, stopping in a local village along the way. At the waterfalls, guests will be able to relax, swim in the gorgeous waters, and visit the bear sanctuary run by Free The Bears Fund Inc. Here, they will learn about and spend time with Asiatic Black Bears that have been saved from poaching by the sanctuary. There will be a picnic lunch offered at the waterfalls before returning to Luang Prabang. On the way back into the city, couples will visit the Kuang Si Butterfly Park to see some of the beautiful species of butterflies that live in Laos. Back in Luang Prabang, guests will have the unique opportunity to experience an age-old tradition and very important custom in Laos, The Baci. The purpose of The Baci is to call back escaped spirits to the body and it is usually performed before major events like weddings, births, and travel.

Day 5: Luang Prabang

Activities: Depart from Luang Prabang

Meals: Breakfast

Itinerary: This morning, our honeymooners will have some time for last-minutes shopping and wandering before they are transferred to the airport to continue on to their next destination.
