Day 1: Luang Prabang
Activities: Arrive in Luang Prabang
Meals: Dinner
Itinerary: Welcome to the spiritual capital of Laos! Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, guests will be met by a guide at the airport and will be transferred to their hotel. In the afternoon, guests will take a half day tour of the UNESCO World Heritage town, finishing by climbing the 328 steps up Mount Phousi to watch the beautiful sunset over the city and enjoying a traditional Lao-style dinner.
Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.
Day 2: Luang Prabang
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: On the second day, guests will take a guided tour of the city after breakfast. The tour will visit sites throughout the city including: the former Royal Palace, the National Museum, Wat Mai, Wat Sensoukarahm, and Wat Xieng Thong (the most sacred temple in Laos). After a delicious lunch, guests will will have the rest of the day to explore at their leisure.
Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: After breakfast, your guide will take you to an explorer camp just outside of the city. Guests will speak with a veterinarian who will teach them about elephants before they get a chance to spend some time with these magnificent creatures. Guests will then embark on a 1.5 hour elephant ride through the forest to Huay Sae, a hidden valley, where guests will leave their elephants and go to eat lunch. Lunch will be followed by a 1.5 hour trek through the the jungle-filled valley to the Nam Khan River. Here, guests will board a bamboo raft and slowly float downstream to Tad Sae Waterfall and from here, guests will be transferred back to Luang Prabang.
Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.
Day 4: Luang Prabang | Kamu Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Itinerary: After breakfast, guests will cruise on the Mekong River, stopping at Pak Ou Caves along the way. After visiting the magnificent caves, guests will continue upriver to Kamu Lodge where they will have lunch and choose from a wide range of activities in which to partake during the afternoon. Activities include:
- Rice planting and harvesting
- Gold panning in the Mekong
- Traditional fishing in the Mekong
- Local village visit
- Archery contest
Overnight stay in Kamu Lodge.
Day 5: Kamu Lodge | Luang Prabang
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: With the morning free, guests can continue enjoying the beautiful Kamu Lodge before eating lunch and heading back downstream to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival back in Luang Prabang, guests will have the opportunity to experience a special Laotian tradition: The Baci. The Baci is an ancient ceremony performed with the purpose of bringing escaped spirits back to the body and is usually performed before important life events like births or weddings.
Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.
Day 6: Luang Prabang
Activities: Departure
Meals: Breakfast
Itinerary: Today families will say goodbye to new friends and be transferred to the airport to continue on to their next destination. The tour may be over, but the memories will last a lifetime!
