After adventurous days of enjoying the incredibly stunning landscapes, guests will have plenty of time to relax in a wide variety of ethnic homestays and riverside lodges. Day 1: Luang Prabang | Khmu Village
Activities: Bike along the Nam Ou River – Visit Khmu Village
Meals: Lunch, dinner
Itinerary: Early this morning, guests will be fitted on quality mountain bikes before setting out on a gorgeous 81km bike ride along the Nam Ou River to a Khmu village. This bike ride can be challenging and we suggest that guests are medium to strong riders on this outing. At the village, guests will eat dinner and spend the night with one of the local families to gain some very authentic insight into the way of life of the Khmu people.

Day 2: Khmu village | Nong Khiaw
Activities: Bike along the Nam Ou River – Explore Nong Khiaw
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, dinner
Itinerary: After breakfast with your family, our adventurous guests will depart from the village for a slightly shorter bike ride (61 km) to Nong Khiaw. The tour will arrive in the afternoon and guests will have some time to explore this beautiful, secluded town. Dinner will consist of sampling some local foods with your guide before settling in for the night at a lodge on the banks of the Nam Ou River.

Day 3: Nong Khiaw | Muang Ngoi
Activities: Boat ride on Nam Ou River – Visit caves – Trekking
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Itinerary: Relax over breakfast at the lodge this morning before setting out on a long-tail boat ride up the river. The boat will travel 19 km through mountains covered in dense jungle to the small, beautiful town of Muang Ngoi. Upon arrival, guests will take a hike through a valley to some nearby caves and villages. Guests will have the rest of the afternoon free to relax and enjoy the serene beauty of Muang Ngoi.

Day 4: Muang Ngoi | Khmu village
Activities: Boat ride – Kayaking – 100 waterfall trek – Homestay
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Itinerary: A busy day awaits! Guests will wake up early this morning and enjoy a delicious breakfast before returning by boat to Nong Khiaw where the kayaks will be waiting. From Muang Ngoi, guests will kayak the Ou River through the beautiful surrounding scenery. After approximately 14 km, the tour will reach a Khmu village. After dropping off luggage, guests will set out on the famous 100 waterfall tour – which is exactly what it sounds like: and incredible hike through many, many beautiful cascading waterfalls! After the hike, guests will return to the village where they will enjoy a home-cooked meal and experience what life is like in the small mountain village.

Day 5: Khmu village | Luang Prabang
Activities: Kayaking – Explore Pak Ou Cave and whiskey village – Departure
Meals: Breakfast, lunch
Itinerary: On our final morning, guests will kayak another 23 km down the Nam Ou River. The tour will stop in another Khmu village on the way as well as passing through more jungle-covered mountains while floating in the serene waters of the Nam Ou River. There will also be a boat following the tour to give our tired kayakers a break if they need it. After finishing this part of the journey, a truck will pick up guests on the riverbank and take themto visit the famous Pak Ou Cave where the Nam Ou and the Mekong Rivers come together. Lunch will be served to us in a restaurant that boasts a beautiful panorama of the rivers and the cave. After lunch, guests will be free to explore some more. Next, the tour will continue to Ban Xiang Hai, where guests can learn about the process of making Laotian rice whiskey. Finally, guests will board the truck again and travel back along the Mekong River to Luang Prabang where they will continue to their next destination.
